How to Take Allegra

The initial dosage of Allegra for adults and children over 12 years of age is 60mg twice per day or 180 mg once per day. A lower dosage of 60mg once per day is generally recommended to the patients who are more than 65 years of age or patients having kidney problems. The initial dosage of this medication in the case of children between 6 to 11 years of age is 30mg twice per day.
In children having kidney problems the recommended is 30mg once per day. The dosage mentioned here may differ from a dosage that your health care provider has recommended. Do not ever try to change the dosage by yourself, it may cause severe consequences. Always consult a health care provider if you feel to adjust the dosage. The medication should be taken as instructed by the health care provider. Younger children are recommended for oral suspension of Allegra. The recommended dosage for children between 2 to 5 years old is 30 mg (5 mL or one teaspoonful) twice per day.  For children between 6 months to two years of age the recommended dosage is 15 mg twice per day, which is equivalent to 2.5 ml or half teaspoon.
