What are Leukotriene Inhibitors?

Over 50 million people suffer with allergies and asthma. That's a very scary fact and the number grows each day. Doctors and scientists have created medications such as Leukotriene Inhibitors that help to block the activity from leukotrienes. These are prescribed medications that doctors give to treat allergies and asthma patients.

Leukotriene Inhibitors are also known as leukotriene and this is what they are for:

- Modifiers
- Pathway modifiers
- Blockers
- Antagonists

Types of Leukotriene Inhibitors:

- Zileuton (Zyflo)
- Zafirlukast (Accolate)
- Montelukast (Singular)

When doctors give these kinds of medications they tell their patients to take them once everyday. Often times you will need to eat something with it and drink a glass of water. They have chewable tables for children and oral granules for ones that might not like pills. They also come in different flavors.  While some Leukotriene inhibitors cost a lot, you can talk with your doctor about getting on a generic brand.
