What is an aspirin or salicylate allergy?

Salicyates is a type of chemical that plants produce naturally and there are many pain-relieving medicines and aspirins that are made by using this chemical as their main ingredient. There are also a wide variety of delicious vegetables, fruits, and even beauty and health care products that are made using salicylate. Unfortunately, there are many people who experience an allergic reaction when they consume medications such as aspirin that contain this chemical and when they use products that have included salicylate as one of the ingredients involved in its making. Some of the symptoms that a person may experience if they are having an allergic reaction to this chemical can be very bothersome and uncomfortable. These would include changes in the color of their skin, headaches, pain in the stomach, congestion in the nasal passages, swelling in the face, feet, and hands, symptoms that appear to be asthma-like that may include wheezing and trouble breathing, hives, a skin rash, and itching. In the event that a severe reaction was to occur, individuals can even experience anaphylaxis, which can be life threatening. Anaphylaxis can cause the person to become unconscious, experience a lowered blood pressure level, and even failure of organs.
