What is Anticholinergic Nasal Allergy Sprays?

Anticholinergic nasal allergy sprays are medicated sprays that have ingredients like Atrovent in it. These sprays help to relieve runny noses and other allergy signs. Atrovent is also known as ipratropium bromide nasal spray. There are lots of anticholinergic medications on the market, Atrovent is just one of many.

There are two kinds of anticholinergic medications. They have long and short acting medicines. The short acting one takes around 20-30 minutes before it starts working and can last over 6-8 hours. The long lasting one can last over 8 hours but kick in around 15 minutes or less. People tend to take these because they have less side effects then others but you should still know what the side effects are.

Side effects with anticholinergic medications:

- Dry mouth
- Dry cough
- Glaucoma might get bad
- Blurred vision
- Urinating problems for men

It's best to always try and write down how much dosage you take everyday so you won't go over it. Ones with memory problems should do this with all medications. If any concerns or questions come up you should always talk with your doctor.
