How to take Aerius

Aerius (generic name is desloratadine) is a tricyclic antihistamine which is used to treat allergic problems. One of the positive aspects of this antihistamine is that, it does not enter the brain from the blood and, therefore, does not cause drowsiness.

We can use Aerius either in tablet form or as syrup. If taken as tablet the usual recommended dose of Aerius for adults and children 12 years of age and over is 5 mg.it should be taken once in a day and that may be taken with or without food.

If we go for syrup for the medication than the usual recommended dose for adults and children (12 years of age and over)is 10 mL (5 mg) .For children (6 to 11 years of age), the usual recommended dose is 5 mL (2.5 mg). For children 2 to 5 years of age, the usual recommended dose is 2.5 mL (1.25 mg). It may be taken with or without food and that too only a single time a day. Should not take this medication unless recommended by a doctor avoid medicating this drug to children (between 2 to 12 years of age) for longer than 14 days.
