While having allergy shots is a good idea not everyone can take them. Side effects might happen and if they do you should report it right away. After you have a allergy shot you'll have to stay in the doctors office for a few minutes and they will observe you and after 15-20 minutes you will be released and able to go home.
People who should not take allergy shots:
- If you've had heart problems, unstable angina, beta-blockers or heart attacks.
- If you cannot tell your doctor the reactions. It's very important to inform your doctor and if you cannot communicate with them right, you should not get one.
- If you have any immune system disease like AIDS, you cannot get one.
New studies are going on and doctors plus researches are hoping to come up with a way to have this done underneath your tongue instead of a shot. Right now people are limited and you can only have it done by shot. If this changes there might even be other options available.
When you are in the waiting room after the shot and you start feeling sick, don't leave without saying anything about it. Speak up and inform them right away. They will need to see what's going on and see about giving you something if it is really serious. Don't leave the office if you are feeling dizzy or if your stomach is upset.
