Can allergies cause breathing problems?

For any individual who suffers from some type of severe allergy, they can quickly be put in a position where they are facing a very serious situation where the allergy can actually end up causing what is called anaphylaxis, which can ultimately be life threatening to the individual. Aside from anaphylaxis causing the person with a severe reaction to experience such things as a lowered blood pressure, dilated blood vessels, hives, and shock, it can also cause them to experience swelling in the body that can make it extremely difficult for the individual to be able to swallow or even breathe. Eating certain food products is the most common culprit that can ultimately cause a severe reaction that can end up causing a victim allergic reactions where they will then have problems breathing. Some of the food products that are well known for causing a person to suffer from life threatening symptoms would include egg whites, sesame seeds, dairy products, nuts, and shellfish such as lobster and shrimp. Although it is a rare occurrence, pollen or some other types of allergens that a person may breathe in can also cause this type of reaction.
