Alomide is 0.1% sterile solution used for topical administration. It is used for treating the allergies in the eye such as hay fever. Its molecular formula is C19H28O12N5Cl and the molecular mass is 553.91 g/mol. Citric acid, sodium citrate, tyloxapol, hydrochloric acid are some of the inactive constituents of the alomide eye drop.
Disorders of eye such as vernal conjunctivitis, vernal keratitis and vernal keratoconjunctivitis are treated with alomide eye drop. Both adults and children can administer these drops but the age of the children must be above four years. The normal dosage is 1-2 drops of alomide which has to be used 4 times a day and this has to be continued for the next three months in the eye having disorder. It is available in the bottle in 10 ml amount. These bottles are made of plastic and has drop dispenser with the drops. Alomide drops must be stored at temperature between 15 to 25 °C.
Avoid usage of alomide drops if a person is allergic to the ingredients of the drops. Lodoxamide is an active chemical present in the alomide eye drop which is responsible for relieving symptoms of allergy. The effect can be seen within few days of use but sometime it can go for four weeks also.
