Who can be affected by allergies?

Infants, toddlers, teenagers, adults, and even the elderly population are all at risk for acquiring an allergic reaction to any one or more of the large number of harmful allergens that can be found both inside the home or business and outside. There are studies that have been done that even show that a fetus that is still in the womb may even be at risk for developing reactions to allergens. Allergic reactions in children are a common occurrence, but there are also many adults who experience their first bout with allergy problems sometime during adulthood. There are many times that an adult may notice that allergies in the nasal passages may lessen as they get older, but when it comes to an asthma condition, it is a problem that generally continues to be a problem. Another factor that has been found when it comes to individuals that live with the symptoms that accompany allergic reactions is that their bodies produce a much larger amount of IgE than in the individuals who do not have any type of allergy problems. It has also been found that the problem of producing more IgE tends to run in families and is hereditary.
